January is lived outdoors: on the 5th the Three Kings parades fill half the province and the 6th dawns with the roscón cake, while inland — the Vall de Xaló, Guadalest — the first flowering almonds announce spring. With mild highs, it is the best month for the big routes: Aitana, Puig Campana or the Penyal d’Ifac with no heat and no queues.
