The Paseo del Mar runs along the seafront of El Campello, around the harbour and the old fishermen’s quarter. This stretch, opened in 1964 and extended in several phases since, is today the social centre of the municipality’s coastal side, with close to two kilometres of pedestrian walkway along the water.

From fishing quarter to promenade

Restaurants specialising in fish and rice dishes line the promenade, a direct legacy of the fishing trade that first built up the quarter, alongside shops and terraces that keep it busy for much of the year. It works as a meeting point for both residents and visitors, with open views over the Mediterranean and El Campello’s fishing and marina harbour.

The municipal tourism website also lists it as the Paseo Marítimo de Carrer la Mar, after the street it follows, and along the way it borders the small urban beach of the same name, next to the harbour, which shares Muchavista’s water-quality certifications.

To the north, the promenade connects to the headland of Illeta dels Banyets and its watchtower, and to the south it links up with the tram-side promenade leading to Muchavista beach, so the whole coastal front of the municipality can be walked without a break.

Unlike Muchavista’s long, open sweep of sand, this stretch stays busy with local life outside the summer months too, since it runs past the harbour where part of the town’s fishing fleet still operates.

It is a quiet walk outside the busiest tourist hours, especially at sunset, when the fishing harbour and the light on the water make it one of the town’s best informal viewpoints. Access is free at any time of year.
