Open in Google Maps

The Font de l'Arbre is a mountain recreational area at 1,200 metres above sea level, on the northern side of the Sierra de Aitana, about 7 kilometres from the village of Confrides. It is reached by a narrow paved road from the village itself or by dirt track from the Port de Tudons, and its setting among pines and holm oaks makes it one of the most popular rest stops in this part of the province's interior.

What to see and do

The area has picnic tables and a barbecue spot next to the spring that gives it its name, suited to a short stop before or after a walk. One of the most common routes up Aitana's summit starts from here, a little over 6 kilometres with moderate difficulty, along with variants that continue on to Benifato or loop back to Confrides. The long-distance GR-330 trail, linking Confrides and Sella across the range, also passes through this point.

When to go

Because of the altitude, the Font de l'Arbre can be under snow in winter, which makes it a different destination depending on the season: a cool mountain walk in summer and, in some years, a snow outing in the depths of winter. It works well as a starting point or rest stop for anyone combining the visit with the Castell d'Alfofra, on the same range, or the climbing routes of Sella, on the other side of the massif.
