The Dique de Levante is the elevated seafront walkway that tops the breakwater at the port of Torrevieja, a wood-and-metal walkway more than 1,600 metres long, inaugurated on 7 December 2000. It turned a purely functional piece of port infrastructure into one of the city's most-used promenades.

A walk over the sea

The covered upper lane offers panoramic views of the bay and the open Mediterranean, with the marina on one side and open sea on the other. It is a flat, easy walk at any time of year, especially pleasant at sunset, when the sun sets over the water on the side opposite the port.

La Bella Lola and the lighthouse

At the entrance to the walkway stands the statue of La Bella Lola, by sculptor Carmen Fraile and installed in 2000, depicting a young woman seated and gazing out to sea — a tribute to the women who once saw fishermen off to work. At the far end of the breakwater stands the Torrevieja lighthouse, a visual landmark for the city and for any boat approaching the port. Local anglers still fish from the lower sections at various points along its length, a reminder that this remains a working harbour wall beneath the promenade.

Access is free and open at all times. The walk pairs well with a visit to the floating museums moored in the same port, or the Parque de las Naciones, a few minutes' walk along the seafront.
