The Parque de las Naciones is one of the most visited green spaces in Torrevieja, built in phases from 2002 and officially opened in 2004 on land that had previously stood unused. It covers just over 38,000 square metres in the middle of the city.

A lake shaped like Europe

Its most recognisable feature is the central lake, around 6,000 square metres in size, whose outline reproduces the silhouette of the European continent to scale — a symbolic nod to the union between nations that gives the park its name. The rest of the grounds are arranged around the water, laid out for family use rather than quiet contemplation.

A play area and a chapel

Between 2005 and 2010 the park added two features that set it apart from the city's other gardens: an iguana terrarium, an unusual find in a public park, and the Chapel of San Emigdio, moved here from its original site on Plaza del Calvario. There is also a children's play area with a dragon-shaped slide that remains one of the most popular meeting points for local families.

Access is free, with no booking or fixed hours required. It makes a convenient rest stop between other sights in the city, such as the Dique de Levante or the floating museums in the port, and one of the easiest ways to spend an afternoon with children without needing a car.
