The Cap de Sant Antoni closes the bay of Jávea to the north with a limestone cliff that reaches 175 metres above the sea. At its tip stands a lighthouse in operation since 1855, one of the oldest on the Alicante coast, still guiding shipping past the headland. The promontory forms part of the Montgó Natural Park and was declared a nature reserve on 9 November 1993, protecting 110 hectares.

A viewpoint over two coastlines

From the viewpoint next to the lighthouse, the view stretches north toward the bay near Denia and south along the whole of Jávea's coastline as far as the Cap de la Nau. Below the cliff lies the cape's marine reserve, protecting rocky seabeds and posidonia meadows, an underwater plant that anchors the sea floor and shelters a wide range of fish and invertebrate species.

It's reached on foot along a paved track from the edge of town, a flat but fairly long walk with no technical difficulty, best avoided in the midday heat of summer. Sunset is the most popular time, when low light picks out the cliff face and the sea changes colour. There's no shade along the route or at the viewpoint itself, so water and sun protection are worth carrying even on short visits. Many visitors combine the walk with a stop afterwards in the old town, since both places sit a short drive apart.
