Open in Google Maps

Benissa has about 4 kilometres of coastline mixing sandy beaches and rocky coves with clear water, a stretch of coast less crowded than the neighbouring municipalities of Calpe and Teulada-Moraira. Playa de la Fustera, which holds a Blue Flag and has fine sand, is the most accessible and best suited to young children; Cala Pinets, a cove of sand and pebbles, allows a short walk to the area known as Mar Morta i Roques Negres; Cala Llobella keeps a more natural, low-key setting, and Cala Advocat, somewhat livelier, has a small protected sandy beach.

A walk along the coast

The Paseo Ecológico de Benissa runs about 4 kilometres of coastline from the village, tracing the shore and passing several of these coves — a gentle introduction to hiking in the area with almost no elevation gain. The landscape mixes low cliffs with terraced fields, many planted with Muscat grapes, one of the area's traditional crops; riuraus, the open-sided structures typical of the Marina Alta, were built specifically to shelter the grape bunches from rain and damp while they dried into raisins in the sun.

Benissa's coast connects by road to the Casco Antiguo de Benissa and its monumental heritage, and lies close to other beaches in the area covered in the best beaches near Alicante guide.
