Cala de Finestrat
Fine-sand beach, 270 metres long, with clear waters and Blue Flag status. At the foot of Puig Campana, it offers a calm atmosphere 3 kilometres from Benidorm, with access to coastal paths and cliff views.
The Cala de Finestrat is the coastal outlet of the municipality of Finestrat, a roughly 300-metre stretch of beach that carries the Blue Flag, a distinction it has held almost continuously since the late 1980s. It sits at the foot of Puig Campana, whose outline dominates the backdrop, about 3 kilometres from Benidorm.
An urban beach with a quieter feel
Despite sitting so close to the busiest part of the Marina Baixa coast, it keeps a calmer atmosphere than Benidorm's main beaches, with fine sand and good water quality suited to swimming and light water sports. It has all the services of an urban beach and was the first in the district to offer free WiFi, from 2018.
Coastal paths run from either end of the beach past small cliffs toward the neighbouring residential areas, with views out to sea and back toward Puig Campana. The coastline here was historically exposed to raids by Berber pirates, which is why much of the Alicante coast still holds watchtowers built to warn the population. Finestrat, an inland town of medieval origin, received this stretch of coast as a reward for its role in defending the territory.
It can be combined with other coves in the area listed in the best beaches near Alicante guide.
