Aquópolis Torrevieja
Water park of 90,000 square meters with 15 attractions, from high-speed slides to a wave lagoon. It operates June to August and offers heated pools, hot tubs and family play areas. Second-largest water park on the Costa Blanca.
Aquópolis Torrevieja opened in 1987 as Acqua Park and became part of the Parques Reunidos group in 1995, which has since renewed much of its facilities. The site covers 60,000 square metres north of Torrevieja, near the road linking the city to Alicante, and brings together 15 attractions across slides, pools and children's areas.
From adrenaline to calm pools
Among the best-known attractions are the Kamikaze, the Black Hole — an enclosed slide that runs through darkness — the Rápidos raft ride, the Speed Race and the Multisurf, built for practising surfing on artificial waves. The park balances these higher-energy zones with shallow pools and play structures designed for its youngest visitors, so several generations of the same family can spend the day together without splitting up.
Aquópolis sits close to other natural attractions in the city, including the Parque Natural de las Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja and the Eras de la Sal, making it easy to split a day between the water park and a quieter visit to the salt flats. The Museo del Mar y de la Sal, in the town centre itself, rounds out the visit with a historical view of the city's salt industry. Like the rest of the Costa Blanca's water parks, it opens only in season, from late spring to early autumn, so it's worth checking the calendar before travelling outside those months.
